STORY

Hi, I'm Ghesal. My whole life I've dreamed about fashion. I've been captivated by fabric and design for as long as I can remember. As a little girl in Fremont, I would ride my bike to the closest grocery store. I’d use every bit of my change to snag a copy of Teen Vogue and Vogue from the store. I would rip out pages and make collages from  the magazine pages. My creativity sparked when my mom would take me to fabric stores with her. I would go through every aisle in aw of all of the different fabrics, colors, and textures. My journey began far from  the world of fashion, though.  A little bit of background.
My parents and older siblings escaped Afghanistan finding refuge in Germany where I was born. Later we made our way to that states as refugees once again. I grew up in the Bay Area in an immigrant household. Growing up I always felt like I was stuck in the middle between 2 different worlds with 2 different cultures.
The Academy of Art was the place where I thought I could turn my dreams into reality. I remember visiting the campus alone, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation, only to have my heart sink when I learned about the tuition fees. The thought of burdening my parents was unbearable, and the financial challenge seemed insurmountable, so, reluctantly, I shelved my dreams and ventured down a different path.
Then, amidst the chaos of the pandemic in Oakland, California, on a day when the sun was particularly encouraging, something inside me stirred. Wandering into a fabric store, a spark of inspiration led me to buy some fabric and give creation a shot. Sewing was a mystery to me, so I turned to my mom, asking if she could guide me through putting together some samples. Together, we dedicated days to perfect the fit, celebrating small victories until we nailed it. That’s where it all began. I wouldn’t the on this journey with out each and every one of you.
Our journey through design has seen about five revisions of our blush clothes, evolving from yellow strings to silk ties and beyond. I’m constantly in pursuit of perfection, aiming to craft items so beautifully and thoughtfully made that they defy the fast fashion culture. I dream of creating pieces that aren’t just worn but cherished, pieces that stand the test of time like the vintage treasures that inspire me.
