STUDIO GHESAL

The Heartbeat

All of the pieces I design are made here in our studio in California. With the help of my very small team, I create every piece in-house. By producing every piece ourselves we have the ability to create unique one-of-a-kind items from rare fabrics that require hours of sewing.

This is absolutely a labor of love and I plan to keep my studio small.

Made (only) in California

A few days each week in the Ghesal studio our ideas are draped on dress forms. For every piece you see, usually dozens of designs were draped. The creative process is unpredictable. The chaos is calmed as each idea bends and flows. I am absolutely creating pieces that are emotionally connected to me and which are difficult for me to part with. Every week I second guess sending pieces out because I want them for myself.

The goal of my work is to create pieces that transport the process, the care and the work along with them.

I don't design to send sanitized mockups to a factory overseas to mass produce. I don't design to be restricted to mass-market low cost materials. I don't every design patterns that perfectly repeat factory machine operations. The studio, the process, the fabric, the ideas, it's all our factory. Every piece is authentic, a true connection to the creativity that created it. No middle men to drain the art away.

The hands that molded ideas into creative possibilities and curated them into statements to be worn are the hands creating every order.
